Explore the real America at LuLu

Lulu Hypermarket’s ‘Discover America’ Festival which runs from November 19 to 27 will celebrate the popular culture and cuisine of the country with a first- time platform that showcases America and the deep-rooted friendship between Bahrain and America.

To be inaugurated at Lulu Hypermarket, Hidd by American Ambassador William Roebuck tomorrow evening, the ‘Discover America’ Festival will showcase the over 2500 American brands and products that the hypermarket promotes.

In addition, for the first time, many American companies have come together to highlight the commercial and technological prowess of America as represented in Bahrain. As part of the fun, Lulu has arranged for a parade of Harley Davidson bikes, whose riders will drive to the Hidd venue and give visitors a glimpse of the iconic American motorbike and even a chance to experience a simulator ride. For those who love big muscle cars, there will be an American Muscle Cars Display made up of 15 to 20 cars including Corvettes, Camaero, vintage cars and superbly maintained cars of the Mustang Club. The Muscle Cars will feature vintage motors of the American Ford Motors, one of the first automobile companies in the world. There will also be American cars on display from companies such as Ahmed Zayani & Sons.

Culture and cuisine too can be experienced at the ‘Discover America’ Festival and organisations such as the American Women’s Association will share cultural insights and conduct a Membership Drive.

American culinary specials will be on display through a demo by Chef Ben Small, the chef from the Four Seasons Hotel’s famous CUT Restaurant. For a taste of down-home cooking, the chefs at Ric’s Kountry Kitchen and Texas BBQ will be there to treat fans.

One of the earliest symbols of Bahraini-American friendship, the American Mission Hospital will be at the festival with a kiosk from which they will publicise their services and offer basic medical advise.

American multi-national giant Coca Cola has also confirmed its support of the American Festival with a display of art made from used cola cans. To add an element of fun and innovation, recycled art will be sold to raise funds for charity.

Officials of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain, also known as AmCham Bahrain and the US-Bahrain Business Council will be present at the opening ceremony.

The whole of the Lulu Hidd premises will resonate with the American colours of red, white and blue and cut-outs of American landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and flags of both countries will give a festive buzz to the venue.

“The American Festival is a unique opportunity to celebrate the colourful, modern culture of the US which has so many admirers,” said Lulu Hypermarket’s Regional Director Juzer Rupawala, “Through this ‘Discover America’ Festival, we want to tap this interest and bring the people of Bahrain and the American community here even closer.”
