The Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI) stands as the preeminent organised professional association of Indians in Bahrain, having served for over a quarter-century with a membership exceeding 400 individuals.

BCICAI is affiliated to the parent institution, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), as well as with the Bahrain Accountants Association (BAA) in Bahrain.

Assuming office on August 1st, 2022, the newly elected Executive Committee, led by Sthanumurthy Viswanathan Meera (seated fourth from the left), has taken the helm.

For the year 2023, the team has adopted “Samgacchadhwam Samvadadhwam” as its guiding theme. This Sanskrit phrase, drawn from the Rig Veda, translates to “May you move in harmony,” and dovetails well with the group’s vision of ‘Progress through inclusiveness’.

“Our theme offers us a powerful vision of a world where diversity is celebrated, respected, and leveraged for the greater good,” Sthanumurthy said.

“By embracing this philosophy, we can create a more inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable society, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.”

“The world of business has changed considerably and with it, the role of the chartered accountant,” Sthanumurthy said, adding: “The initial function of an accountant was to keep track of the money that the business generated and report it to the owners. As time progressed, additional functions were taken over by Chartered Accountants (CA) and s/he  become a concierge of the business, leading the way in challenging times.”

The forthcoming 15th iteration of the annual international conference, a platform where esteemed leaders deliberate upon pivotal topics concerning change management in the realm of the CA profession, is slated for December 2023.

This year, the central discussions will revolve around enhancing skillsets and seizing opportunities for personal advancement.
