Fulbright US Scholar joins RUW

In association with the US Embassy, Fulbright USA Scholar, Professor Reem A. Abu-Lughod is teaching at the Royal University for Women for the academic year 2023- 24.
President, Professor Yusra Mouzughi warmly welcomed Professor Reem and lauded her academic career that extends for almost two decades.
The United States Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain commented, “Our partnership with the Royal University for Women is deep and longstanding, and we are delighted to see it enter a new phase as RUW hosts Fulbright Scholar Prof. Reem Abu Lughod.”
Professor Reem will teach and conduct research on topics related to women’s empowerment and advancement in higher education and the workplace and will facilitate workshops and seminars focusing on teaching pedagogies in higher education, emotional intelligence, and ethics, all with a focus on overcoming gender biases and promoting female engagement at different levels of society.
Coming from the California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), she has taught courses on Race and Ethnicity in Criminal Justice, Issues, Values and Ethics in Criminal Justice, Policymaking, Theoretical Perspectives in Criminal Justice and others.
She was also a faculty member at the National Defense College (NDC-Abu-Dhabi), facilitating workshops, supervising master’s theses and developing courses as part of the Strategic and Security Studies programme at NDC.
