Bahrain is looking at the United States as a key tourism market, said Dr. Nasser Qaedi, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), as he outlined the opportunities the Kingdom has in developing the sector.

Dr Qaedi further underscored the commitment of both the Ministry of Tourism and the BTEA to support global tourism industry development, emphasising the importance of connecting with nations and organisations in the tourism sector, participating in tourism events, and sharing expertise.

He shared these insights during a meeting with a delegation of US Congress staff, providing a comprehensive overview of Bahrain’s tourism sector.

Dr Nasser Qaedi told the delegates that the tourism sector in the Kingdom plays a pivotal role in realising the government’s economic recovery plan, initiated in October 2021.

He further emphasised the sector’s importance as a key component of the recovery plan and elaborated on Bahrain’s tourism strategy for the years 2022-2026.

This strategy is designed to double the tourism sector’s contribution to the GDP, diversify tourism offerings, and attract a more diverse and international range of tourists.

The top official also highlighted the achievements of the BTEA, outlining various initiatives and programmes aimed at enhancing the performance of Bahrain’s tourism sector.

Dr Qaedi showcased key commercial and investment tourism projects underway and planned across various governorates in Bahrain, recognising the United States as a vital tourism market and stressing the importance of nurturing the long-standing relations between the two nations.
