Alba marks 7th consecutive year of zero heat-related illnesses and injuries

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the world’s largest aluminium smelters, marked 2023 as the 7th consecutive year of zero heat-related illnesses and injuries across its operations, a remarkable achievement in the aluminium industry.

Alba’s CEO Ali Al Baqali stated: “Ensuring the Safety of our employees and contractors is not a one-time effort but an ongoing journey. By fostering a culture where Safety is everyone’s responsibility, we can create a workplace where accidents are prevented.”

Alba’s efforts to keep its employees and contractors’ workers safe during the challenging summer season include hydration surveys, heat-awareness sessions and workshops, distribution of cooling cloths to personnel to help regulate body temperature in hot environment, in addition to a plantwide summer safety campaign and mini-safety campaigns all year round.

Furthermore, Alba has maintained Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) index measurement and communication – 4 times a day during the hot summer months – to all work areas via different channels such as e-mails, display screens as well as WhatsApp Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali application.
