The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has marked its presence at the commencement of the four-weeklong World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) hosted in the United Arab Emirates.

Organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) every four years, the WRC stands among the most crucial industry events, drawing around 4,000 participants, including representatives of member states, international organisations, and manufacturers.

Viewing its participation as a strategic opportunity to bolster global cooperation and advance radiocommunications in Bahrain, the TRA is actively engaged in discussions, workshops, and sessions that delve into the latest technologies and advancements.

The Bahraini delegation is playing a pivotal role, representing the Arab Spectrum Group in the fourth and fifth work committees of the ITU’s Radiocommunications Assembly (RA-23).

Additionally, they contribute significantly to overseeing the election process, revealed officials.

A highlight of the conference will be the signing of an international treaty governing the use of the radiofrequency spectrum.

The TRA, with its dedicated efforts, has aimed to optimise frequency spectrum usage, aligning it with the Kingdom’s requirements, and fostering sustainable advancements in the radiocommunications sector.

The authority’s proactive involvement underlines its commitment to shaping the future landscape of radiocommunications on both national and global fronts, officials said.
