The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) declared the adoption of the “Dubai Framework” during the Third ICAO Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) in Dubai.
The framework aims to reduce international aviation CO2 emissions by 5% by 2030 through increased production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF), and cleaner energy sources.
ICAO members will review goals by 2028, with the framework emphasizing a collective vision, regulatory foundations, implementation initiatives, and inclusive financing.
The agreement supports decentralizing production globally and ensuring no fuel source is excluded, promoting a flexible and comprehensive approach for emissions reduction.
The UAE, through GCAA, presented a commemorative sculpture during the closing ceremony.
