The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) recently participated in the “Oman for Environmental Sustainability” conference in Muscat that focused on finding solutions to reduce carbon emissions, promoting the adoption of low-carbon technologies and strategies.

Joining the conference were Dr. Haitham Al-Qahtani, UTB’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability, considering carbon emission reduction a top priority for achieving sustainable development, and UTB faculty member, Dalal Alalaiwat, who presented a paper titled “Methods for Reducing Energy Consumption in Carbon Sequestration Using Monomolecular Chemicals” highlighting viable steps of carbon reduction.

With UTB’s offering of Bachelor of Environmental Engineering as a prominent academic programme attracting significant student interest, the university aims to supply the job market with skilled environmental engineers equipped to develop renewable energy technologies, enhance resource consumption efficiency, and raise environmental awareness.

To date, the university has been in support of staff and student projects related to sustainable development, such as solar-powered inventions and adoption of clean energy solutions.

UTB reaffirms its dedication to environmental stewardship, aligning with the kingdom’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
