Bahrain's labour fund Tamkeen CEO Maha Mofeez has announced significant developments regarding the allocation of funds for training programmes.

This is in response to inquiries from MP Basema Mubarak.

A total of BD10,113,593 has been earmarked for these programmes, benefiting a substantial number of job seekers and employed individuals.

From December 12, 2022, to January 7, 2024, a total of 9,484 individuals have benefited from these programmes, enhancing their skills and employability.

To ensure the provision of high-quality training services for job seekers and employees, training centres in Bahrain must acquire relevant licencing from training regulatory authorities.

However, this permission is contingent upon the centres being rated “good” or above by the Education & Training Quality Authority.

Quality standards

Tamkeen diligently monitors and evaluates the subsidised training programmes to uphold the promised quality standards, thereby ensuring the delivery of desired outcomes.

She emphasised that the fund is dedicated to providing training opportunities for Bahraini citizens, bridging the gap between the skills of job seekers and the labour market’s needs.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance services, the fund introduced a qualitative performance index in 2023.

This index assesses career output over a monitoring period ranging from 12 to 36 months, effectively tracking training outcomes.

The success of these initiatives is reflected in the creation of over 1,200 job opportunities generated by these training programmes.

Pivotal role

Overall, through its substantial financial commitment, stringent quality control measures, and focus on aligning skills with labour market demands, the Labour Fund continues to play a pivotal role in empowering Bahraini citizens, fostering career growth, and bolstering the nation’s workforce.
