AMH opens new Pathology and Laboratory Department on World Laboratory Day

The American Mission Hospital marked World Laboratory Day by officially unveiling its Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the King Hamad American Mission Hospital.
Established as a separate department in 1984, AMH initially offered basic lab tests and has since grown to encompass five sites, providing a comprehensive range of laboratory services that support clinicians in diagnosis and enhance patient outcomes.
World Laboratory Day, observed annually on April 23rd, acknowledges the vital role of laboratories in healthcare, scientific research, and development.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Health Supreme Council, Dr. George Cheriyan, American Mission Hospital Corporate CEO, and Julia Tovey, American Mission Hospital Group CEO, highlighted the theme for 2024: “THE FUTURE IS LAB.”
This theme recognises and honours laboratory professionals for their adeptness in addressing today’s evolving patient care and public health challenges with resilience, innovation, and expertise.
