British School Bahrain honours top students

To the sound of classical music from the British School Bahrain (BSB) music department, the school threw open its doors to welcome guests to its annual certificate presentation evening on December 8.

A high point in the school calendar, this is an evening where existing and ex-students return to collect their GCSE and A level certificates and together with head teachers, staff, the board of trustees, parents, Ministry officials and local dignitaries celebrate their achievements.

Betsy Mathieson, Secretary General of the Bahrain Federation of Expatriate Associations and Cameron Mirza, the Ministry of Higher Education alongside Julie-Anne Gilbert and Rashad Janahi, who represented the Board of Trustees attended.

After a welcome by Mrs Julie-Anne Gilbert, the audience were entertained by the Year 10 GCSE Ensemble, performing “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.

Special guest at the event, Betsy Mathieson gave away the awards and certificates. In her address, Betsy Mathieson said that we should follow our hearts, pursue what we enjoy doing, be determined and not allow others to tell us what we should or shouldn’t do and be creative and have passion in learning.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards and Edexcel Gold Medals for students, who achieved the highest marks in the world and country.
