ISB bids farewell to Edna Sequeira

ManamaEdna Sequeira, the longest serving expatriate staff of the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) is bidding farewell to the Kingdom after 50 years of meritorious service in the educational field. Sequeira joined the Indian school in 1967 as a teacher   when the school started English medium division in Manama .  Ms Sequeira has been serving as a teacher for more than five decades and has taught thousands of children around the world and has earned their love and respect. She is also well noted for her commendable community services in Bahrain. On 1966 June 23 Sequeira came to Bahrain where her husband  Anthony Sequeira was working  in  Bahrain Airport Services(BAS).

When Anthony  Sequeira  passed away in 1978 she was given expatriate status and remained in the Indian School Bahrain as a teacher known for dedication,commitment,discipline and love for children. She hails from the Kannur district of the Indian state of Kerala. Her children Deryl Sequeira (US) and Sheryl Sequeira (Bangalore) are former students of the Indian School. Sequeira is an active member of Sacred Heart Church Bahrain. 

She will be in Bahrain till April 20 after which she will return to India    to settle in Bangalore where her daughter Sheryl lives with her family. She has received many  recognitions for her exemplary service  in Bahrain including the best employee award instituted by P.V Radhakrishna Pillai when he was the chairman of the Indian School Bahrain during 2002-2008.  The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS )Ladies Wing  had awarded her ‘Service Excellence Award’  when they   marked the International Women’s Day in  March 2014 at a ceremony held at the BKS DJ Hall in Segayya.  The Indian School Bahrain staff club organized a farewell ceremony for Sequeira along with other retiring staff members yesterday.

ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan told DT News Ms  Sequeira  who has immensely contributed to the development of the Indian school, had an in-depth knowledge of school procedures  and possessed administrative skills. Prince S Natarajan and Principal V.R Palaniswamy and other EC members and staff attended the farewell.
