"Sleeping Cats" on show

gifted Bahraini artist, Ebrahim BuSaad, is currently displaying his artwork, entitled “Sleeping Cats”, for public viewing at BuSaad Art Gallery in Muharraq.

His works, drawn over a period of three years, explore the fundamental themes of infidelity and betrayal and are inspired by the capricious nature of cats, as well as the artist’s own memories of growing up in the close-knit community and distinctive architecture of Old Muharraq in Bahrain.

Using predominantly primary colors, curved and straight lines, Ebrahim’s paintings reflect a hint of Picasso’s abstract work. Faces and figures can be seen within the interior of the drawings, and each one is rich with many different patterns and tones.

DT News spoke to Lara Al-Khalaf, a student of London University, who said “I heard about this art exhibition through the Spring of Culture. Since I am a design student, with an eye for artistry, this kind of exhibition appeals to me. The artist’s paintings are detailed and leave you feeling not too full or too empty. It has a mysterious and familiar effect at once, which is a wonderful contrast.”

“I have always considered myself an artist, with an artist’s eye, so I prize any chance I get to see anything related to art in Bahrain; art is a universal language and we have just as many talented artists in Bahrain as anywhere else in the world. I also genuinely like to see recent works of art instead of old famous paintings by people who have already died – it keeps things fresh.” she added.

The art exhibition began on the 16th of March and will come to a close on April 25th, so be sure to head down there as soon as you can if you would like a chance to see the interesting art work.

The exhibition is open Saturday – Thursday from 9 am – 1 pm and 4 pm – 8 pm.
