Manama : Twelve reputed companies from different strata across the country, including Ahli United Bank, Batelco, Zain, Microsoft Bahrain, Al Bayan Media Group, Memac Oglivy, Grant Thorton, Contexture Associates, Gailure Ideas & Insights, Nestle Bahrain, AIESEC and Ashrafs BGDC gathered at the University College of Bahrain yesterday to provide an opportunity for students to benefit from professional guidance in terms of preparing themselves for the world of recruiting and professional imaging. There was a keenness to recruit students who are graduating in 2016 and let them know what is currently on offer in Bahrain’s job market.
Dr. Victoria Ghurbal, HR Business Partner – Human Resources – Ahli United Bank, was willing to exchange a few words with DTNews: “This Career Day at UCB is set up with the intention of meeting with potential graduates and giving advice about career paths in the financial sector. We are hoping to meet some talented candidates today.”
“The most important purpose is to share insight and practical experience with the students. They need to manage their expectations; it’s very important that we can prepare the graduates to make a smooth transition in the corporate field”
Dr. Ghurbal continued, “We receive over 300 CV’s per month, and we have a strict auditing method to rule-out unfit candidates, for example, at the very least any person applying must have a Bachelor’s degree. After creating a short-list of candidates, we then look into each person’s strengths, abilities and preferences in order to make the most appropriate choices – not only in terms of our wishes but also looking at each individual and what would make them happiest and, basically, what would work best for them. We have around 600 employees at Ahli United Bank, all working in different sectors including finance, treasury, corporate, banking, sales and operations.”
Osama Anabtwai, Field Representative for Nestle Bahrain, commented: “We’re looking for fresh graduates in order to develop and train them to become the future leaders.”
He added, “Anyone who has got the talent, qualifications and who is interested to work with Nestle Bahrain is welcome to apply. We are like one big family in our company; the atmosphere is very friendly and supportive. We like to make any potential employees feel at home.”

We want to make sure that youth, students, and jobseekers are aware of the various programmes, servies and opportunities that Tamkeen can offer to achieve their potential.”
She further added, “There are a lot of opportunities in the private sector and by participating in such exhibitions and career awareness events we would be able to engage and interact actively with the youth and the employers.
