Trip to Lost Paradise

Manama: A select few of the Bahrain School students decided to do a little more than just have fun at Lost Paradise on May 16, 2016.  Physics students from Bahrain School took a trip to the Lost Paradise water park looking forward to riding the rides and enjoying a day in the sun with a twist.

These Physics students were busy measuring distances, angles, times, velocities, accelerations and much more while sliding along on slides and gliding on the lazy river.  All this effort was part of a project designed for the students to see physics at work in the real world.  Bahrain School students worked to find maximum velocities, volumes, flow rates, power and so much more.  Mr. Zimmer’s project was designed to let students experience physics in a new way allowing them to see the underlying principles that govern the water park.

Students truly enjoyed their experience at the water park.  “Theory and concepts actually work in practice” and “Real world physics is awesome” were common comments from students.  The physics was not lost in the fun either.  Everywhere there were groups of dripping students writing data and discussing their solutions to the project.  Overall this was a wonderful experience in physics and fun for Bahrain School students at Lost Paradise!
