BIPD holds lecture on Bahrain political history

Manama:  A lecture within the “Scholarship Recipient Ambassador” programme has focused on the history of the political system in Bahrain.

The programme is organized by Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) and targets to prepare students on Ministry of Education’s scholarships abroad to be the best ambassadors of Bahrain.

The lecture was a addressed by Oubaid Al-Oubaidly who talked about the development of the modern political system in Bahrain.
He also focused on the political environment that produced the 1973 constitution and the democratic development took
place in Bahrain since the launch of the royal reforms, referendum on the National Action Charter, parliamentary and municipal councils elections, constitutional amendments made in 2002, 2012 and their impact on the political life in Bahrain.

The lecture aimed to raise the participants’ awareness of the political system in Bahrain, branches of government and the relationship between them within a constitutional framework, democratic

development witnessed by Bahrain, as well as types of political systems and a comparison with the political system in Bahrain.

He pointed out the democratic gains achieved since the launch of the royal reforms to educate the students and to enable them to convey Bahrain’s civilized image to the world.

The programme aims to form a general information and cultural database for students prior to leaving Bahrain, which is expected to contribute to make them better aware of the national affairs; to safeguard and improve their political, legal, media, social and human rights knowledge, and to increase awareness of their rights abroad as well as their national role in reflecting the social reality and the genuine image of the Bahraini society.
