Bahrain Indian School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti
Manama : Bahrain Indian School (BIS), a part of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, a premier institution providing education in India, celebrated the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the preeminent leader of the Indian independence movement in British-ruled India.
Students of Grade IV Cedar presented a special assembly on Gandhi Jayanti.
The vision, mission and motto of BIS was spoken by Abhimanyu, Dhruv and John followed by a presentation by Keerthana sharing the importance of the day. Students also enacted a skit honoring the Father of the Nation.
Wearing loincloth, Gandhi spectacles and caps, Vishrut amazed all present there with his fancy dress. After the stupendous performance by the students, a documentary on former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and on the freedom struggle of India was presented.
Tisha and Aayan anchored the show. Social Science department conducted numerous activities during the week to educate the children as well to bring out the artistic skills of the students.
BIS teachers attended the program organized by Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam on Mahatma Gandhi. Boards were displayed with the art work and information about Gandhiji was prepared by the children. The message of truth, love, peace and non-violence was shared with students through various activities that were conducted in the classes.
The solo and group patriotic song competition gave voice to the feelings of patriotism and it stirred the emotions of the audience thereby spreading the message of peace and non-violence. The audience and the entire BIS fraternity were enthused with patriotism as the students of all the four houses i.e. Gladiators, Spartans, Vikings and Warriors sang national song Vande Mataram. The costumes worn by children depicted peace and serenity to be followed by the nation at large.
To remove the stage fright and build confidence Grade II - Thames children presented a special assembly on facts in everyday life. The vision, mission and motto was spoken by Aaron, Ashtami and Joel. Gayathri, Shivangi, Arnav, Aaron, Manveeth, Sree Sharan, Saanjh and Joel performed live experiments in a play-way method to explain the scientific concepts related to our daily lives. Arinaa took the pledge.
