BritMUN makes a difference

ManamaBritMUN successfully continues to raise money for charitable organizations and aspires to choose a charity with a profound purpose to support during the future conferences.

As a student-run MUN, the BritMUN community found various opportunities to raise money for charity. For BritMUN III, Diya Pakistan was the chosen charity following the Peshawar school massacre that took place in 2014.

Diya opened one school in memory of each life lost and BritMUN has donated to a school in the name of Shahzad Ejaz, one student out of the 141 martyred.

The students held competitions during the weekend which is now funded into a school with the name of Shahzad Ejaz Shaheed Al-Suffah Jamia Public School.

The school is located in a village from the mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the province of Pakistan where exposure to education is limited.

Therefore, the BritMUN funded school has given children an accessible institution to study in. The school is built on a foundation of plain earth as the flooring and the infrastructure of flimsy steel sheets.

The BritMUN team has given the underprivileged students a future to support their families; an educated child is an educated nation.

BritMUN hopes to continue supporting charitable organizations with a purpose of making a difference, British School Bahrain (BSB) officials said.
