Chelsea Pensioners visit British School of Bahrain
As part of the school’s celebration of the British-Bahrain 200 years of bi-lateral relations and as part of their annual Remembrance visit, the British School of Bahrain organised an opportunity for students to hear directly from veterans who had served in the armed forces in the UK in the past.
In their resplendent scarlet uniforms, Chelsea Pensioners Guardsman David McIntyre of the Scots Guards, John Honey of the Royal Ordinance Corps and Sgt Derek Layton of the Royal Signals Corps took time out of their busy schedule to visit the school last Sunday.
Meeting with students, attending a Junior School assembly and visiting History lessons in the Senior School, the Pensioners gave an insight into their Forces experiences as well as life at the famous Royal Hospital in Chelsea. Their stories fascinated British School students.
BSB Head of Senior School Khalid Ahmed commented: “It was a pleasure hosting the Chelsea Pensioners; we thank them for visiting the school and they were humble about their experiences. We are delighted they shared a morning with our school and students. We look forward to welcoming them back next year.”
