‘Uplift the spirit of the child’

Manama:   The teachers who will be counsellors have a greater role in uplifting the spirit of the child, said Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr  Anne Mostafa. She was addressing the teachers who attended the workshop organized by the Department of Counselling of the Indian School Bahrain. Dr. Anne outlined the road map to understand students better and in the right perspective.  She emphasized that every child is different and unique  and one must allow them to be what they are. With unique qualities, the child needs attention and care.  Correcting a child is the way ahead, she said.

Teachers from LKG to Class 12 participated in the workshop. The Counselling Department staff, Discipline Coordinators and teachers who are passionate about counselling attended the workshop held in the Isa Town campus.

Dr. Anisha Abraham of AMH while conducting   a presentation, touched upon various aspects of counselling and the behavior patterns of the students. She dwelled into the technicalities of counselling and   the teacher’s role in it. She explained various stages of counselling and the different behaviour patterns of children.

Dr.  Babu Ramachandran from AMH in a brief talk appreciated the teachers for the multiple and challenging role they play in the daily life. He added that in the present context when the world is an open book, the children are exposed to an ocean of information. The teachers will have to steer them to their mission in life. He expressed happiness in the manner in which teachers voluntarily came forward for the session. He appreciated the efforts of the Executive Committee of the school and the administration for this innovative venture.   The school administration added that this is one of the sessions in the series of training arranged for teachers in different skills. The aim of the Executive Committee is to strengthen the hands of the teachers who will take the school to greater heights. The School Secretary Dr. Shemily P John, Asst. Secretary Dr. Manoj Kumar, Member Transport and Discipline  Bhupinder Singh, Principals V.R Palaniswamy and   Sudhir Krishnan and 40 staff members attended.
