Green drive at Bahrain Indian School

It’s the necessity and responsibility of humans to respect, protect, and preserve the natural world from its anthropogenic afflictions. Taking this initiative a step ahead, students of Bahrain Indian School (BIS), Budaiya under the guidance of  BIS Educator Kshama Pandey, have gone   beyond classrooms by conducting an awareness drive in the school. BIS Students did    “Good Litter Survey” in the whole school by looking into all dustbins placed in the campus and keeping record of the type and amount of waste generated by the school. The students also interviewed people of different age groups on the topic: “Is plastic boon or curse?” The students visited all the classes and spread awareness in each class by using numerous resources like posters, inspirational videos, environmental brochures and  survey report. 

BIS Director  Ritu Verma  applauded their efforts : ‘The awareness drive took an inspirational and informative step that discusses man-made environmental issues, while   instilling a sense of hopefulness for the future. In order to keep our rainforest pristine, we need to stop our dependence on fossil fuel,’ she said. Principal Dr Heena Rachh  said it’s an awakening programme and it should not be limited to the school grounds. Coordinator Dr Preet kamal Bhatnagar  insisted students to buy reusable products, use clean power and refuse paper towels, plastic bags and bottles. ‘Start participating in the change and teach your community what it means to be sustainable,’ she added.
