Manama : In coordination with Almoayyed Computers, Bahrain Polytechnic has successfully started the migration of their ICT infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) by transferring its Learning Management System to AWS, being one of the first governmental institutions to implement this technology in their operations.
The Learning Management System (LMS) is used by all students and academic staff (approximately 2,000 users) on a daily basis, containing course materials, assignments, quizzes, surveys, discussion forums, and communications with all students.
Another system which was migrated into the cloud is the e-Portfolios System, which showcases attributes, achievements, and success stories of Polytechnic students to stakeholders and prospective employers.
Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Bahrain Polytechnic’s Deputy CEO of Resources and Information Affairs, said, “Moving to cloud computing demonstrates the Polytechnic’s aim to keep enhancing its technology to provide an efficient and productive service to students and staff.”
Sameera AlAtawi, Bahrain Polytechnic’s Director of ICT, said, ”Using cloud computing will improve all ICT operations in terms of efficiency, time, and cost.”
She thanked the executive management for their support, and added that the ICT Directorate is willing to share their expertise with other governmental
