RCSI Bahrain President honoured

Acknowledging the role of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) in international medical education, the name of the university’s president, Professor Sameer Otoom, has been added to the list of highly respected and distinguished medical professionals inscribed on the Wall of Honour of the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

The Royal Society of Medicine was established in 1805 as a medical and surgical society in London, and was granted a Royal Charter by King William IV. It was expanded and given a second Royal Charter by King George V and Queen Mary in 1912.

It is the largest provider of meeting-based Continuing Professional Development for doctors in the UK. Commenting on the honour, Professor Otoom acknowledged the important role of Bahrain and RCSI in international medical education and expressed his happiness with the great distinction, particularly when the name of Bahrain was also inscribed on the Wall of Honour.
