Indian School Bahrain celebrates Urdu Day
Manama : The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Urdu Department celebrated Urdu Day with colourful programmes on Thursday at the Isa Town Campus.
Urdu Scholar Mohammad Shuaib Nigramy was the chief guest and Urdu Poet Dr Nawaz Deobandi and Ex-Head of Dept. of IT- GIIC Mohammad Anwar were the guests of honour.
The programme started with the school prayer followed by the national anthem. The welcome address was given by student Redah Sohail of class X after the lighting of the lamp. This was the grand finale of the week-long celebrations which had many competitions for students of classes VI, VII and VIII.
Apart from the competitions, there were a variety of programmes such as patriotic song, national song and a humorous skit. The Urdu Day report was presented by Urdu Teacher Sameena Shaikh. In his speech, the chief guest Mohammad Shuaib Nigramy highlighted the contribution of Urdu scholars. He congratulated the school for organising Urdu Day in a grand manner. Nawaz Deobandi recited his Urdu poem which was appreciated by all students. ISB EC Members (Academics) Khursheed Alam, Jayafar Maidani (Sports), Principal VR Palaniswamy, HOD Ibadur Rahman and Vice Principals were present. The winners were awarded a trophy and certificate by the chief guest. Sarah of class XII gave the vote of thanks.
