Annual Sports Day – NMS -DPS
The Annual Sports Day of NMS DPS, was celebrated for the Senior students on 21st December, 2017 amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie. The aim behind holding the event was to inculcate the spirit of veracity and fondness for sports in children.
This was entailed by the unfurling of the school flag and the declaration of the Meet open by the School Principal, Arun Kuumar Sharma, marking the commencement of the ceremony.
In his inaugural speech, he remarked that apart from commemorating victories, sports meets aim to display the physical prowess of the students and also help in imparting lessons on team-spirit in children. He also added that sports have a vital role in making a child physically and mentally sound.
This was followed by the oath taking ceremony where the Sports Captain of the school administered the pledge to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship.
The whole playground had been decorated with flags and buntings. The day was a fun filled fest of laughter, energy and delight as hundreds of students witnessed and participated in various activities.
Notable among the events were various kinds of races including 100mts, 200mts, 400mts, 800mts, relay, Shot-put, discuss throw, long jump. Prize distributions were held at the conclusion of each event. The day also showcased a tug off war between students and teachers. It regaled the spectators and participants alike as they discovered the hidden child in their mentors. The enchantment of the day was at its zenith during the announcement for Individual Championships Girl and Boy for the academic session 2017-18. Vibha Maheshwari and Akheel Mohammed of grade X won the trophies respectively.

Chairman, Dr. Ravi Pillai and the Managing Director, Ms. Geetha Pillai praised the endeavours of the school, highlighting the necessity of sportsmanship in a world riddled with rat races.
The day ended with a cheerful note, heralding the year 2018, filled with promises for all the young sports enthusiasts.
