Our food, our medicine

This is a topic with lots of food for thought, I believe. Give the body what it needs, it will heal itself. Take away what it doesn’t need and it will heal itself. Our food chain has changed drastically in the last 50 years than what we used to practise for hundreds  of  years. Today we are the epicentre of so many ailments in the world. We have advanced technologically and so have the ailments too. We are getting heart attacks at an age where hearts are supposedly to be busy with cupids. We get paralysed when we are supposed to be paragliding.

The immune system is so low that even diseases like dengue is creating havoc in our country. Gone are the days when snacking fruits from the backyard was a pastime glory and today even an apple a day cannot keep the doctor away. The best health tonic available naturally to us is water but we keep ignoring it and drink all that harms us in all ways. We have no better cleanser than water that can keep us in equilibrium. The west has influenced us so badly and we are now facing the consequences. Life is a race and we have to keep running fast.  Keeping in trend with the fast moving world, food also has become fast food   labelled junk.

The human body is one of the most wonderful and complicated creation of nature. Let’s fuel it through the best   food and keep us  hale and hearty. Food is a relationship, it’s a habit and it’s an approach to life. You are what you eat. The best way to stay healthy is to eat well the right food consciously.

I conclude my thoughts quoting Hippocrates:  Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.
