Indian School Bahrain celebrates Maths Day
With an aim to bring awareness on the contributions made by the renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Mathematics Department celebrated Mathematics Day 2018 in the school’s Isa Town Campus on January 29.
Dr Faisal Al Showaikh, Chairman, Department of Mathematics, University of Bahrain was the Judge for the competitions held in connection with the Maths Day. The programme was attended by ISB EC Member Premalatha NS, Principal VR Palaniswamy and Vice Principals, staff and students. Dr Faisal Al Showaikh who addressed the students emphasized the importance of Mathematics in our day-to-day life.
Mathematics HoD B Senthil welcomed the gathering. As part of the celebrations, 45 students from classes 4 to 8 were given the certificates for their outstanding performance in the MTSE (Maths Talent Search Exam).
There was a paper presentation competition for the students of class 9 and 11 with the topic was Mathematics Behind Music in which nearly 11 students participated. The first prize was won by Sathma Abraham of class 11-I.
Riddhi Nileshkumar of 9–J won the second prize and Naufa Nalim of 11-I won the third prize. The winners were presented with trophies.
