Indian School and Al Noor win Scrabble tournament
The first ever app-driven Scrabble Tournament in Bahrain was hosted by Ramli Mall on Saturday.
The day-long tournament re-worked the much loved word-board game into a 21st-century format and was a first for the Ramli Mall too. The brisk tournament saw the participation of nearly 100 children from various schools across the kingdom.
There were three age categories: 8 to 11 years, 11 to 14 years, and 14 years & above. The winners in each category received trophies and gift vouchers from the mall. The first prize for age group 8 to 11 years was bagged by Nandana Unnikrishnan of Indian School. Vivian George of Indian School was awarded first prize in 11 to 14 years group and Chris Vipin of Al Noor International School received the first prize for 14 years & above group. All the participants were given a participation certificate.
The tournament was coordinated by well-known professional Bahraini Scrabble player Mohammed Irfan Siddiqui, who has represented Bahrain in 5 World Scrabble Championships and is currently ranked amongst the top 200 players in the world.
