In a significant display of international collaboration, a team of officials from Bahrain played a pivotal role in organizing the 2024 IMMAF African Championships, hosted in Windhoek, Namibia.

The championship saw 170 fighters from 10 African nations compete under the guidance of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).

The Bahraini delegation, led by Mohamed Qamber-president of both the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) and the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation-comprised prominent figures such as Iman Abdulla, Rashid Majeran, and Ibrahim Oun.

The IMMAF and African MMA federations commended the Bahraini team for their exceptional organizational skills and professional conduct throughout the event.

This praise underscores Bahrain’s growing influence in the global MMA community.

Continuing tradition of excellence The Bahrain Combat Sports Council highlighted that this event was the eighth IMMAF tournament where Bahrain had provided significant organizational support.

Notably, this was the second time Bahraini officials managed the African Championships, with their previous involvement in Angola being equally successful.

Bahrain’s active participation in such international events stems from the strategic partnership between the IMMAF and BMMAF.

This collaboration has been nurtured under the direction of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who holds multiple prominent positions, including first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, chairman of the General Sports Authority, and president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

This alliance and Bahrain’s continued contributions to MMA underline the Kingdom’s commitment to elevating the sport on a global scale.
