Riffa eliminated from Chengdu Masters

Bahrain’s basketball team, Riffa, secured a sixth-place finish at the Chengdu Masters in China, part of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
After a strong performance in the group stage with two wins, Riffa was eliminated following a 10-21 loss to Lausanne, Switzerland.
Riffa started the game trailing 0-2 and couldn’t recover. Lausanne extended their lead to 11-5 halfway through the game and later achieved a 19-9 lead with two minutes left.
Jonas Foerts led Riffa with four points, while Vic Van Oosterwyck, Dennis Donkor, and Caspar Augustijnen added three, two, and one point.
For Lausanne, Malik Hluchoweckyj scored nine points, and Westher Molteni contributed five. Ub Huishan NE from Serbia won the gold, Lausanne took silver, and Princeton from the US claimed bronze.
Beijing of China and Liman of Serbia finished fourth and fifth, ahead of Riffa. The Chengdu Masters featured 12 teams from various cities worldwide and was the fourth stop on this year’s FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
The series will continue with an event in Bahrain, the Manama Masters, set for November 1 and 2, promising more exciting basketball action.
