His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, extended his warmest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This follows our national Esports team player, Sayed Hashim Khalil, winning the Tekken 8 competition title in the first edition of the GCC Esports League 2024, held in Riyadh on the 27th and 28th of June. The victory qualifies the player for the Esports World Cup, also to be held in Riyadh.

He also congratulated His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa remarked that this significant achievement came as a result of the exceptional care given by His Majesty the King to sports, the support of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the attention of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. These efforts have created the optimal environment to achieve this success.

His Highness praised the player's remarkable efforts, noting that his determination was the decisive factor in securing this victory. He also highlighted the role of the Bahrain Esports Federation in organising and preparing the team for this league, and their ongoing efforts to elevate Bahrain’s name in international arenas. His Highness emphasised that this triumph serves as strong motivation to continue striving for further successes in the future.

Player Sayed Hashim Ahmed Khalil triumphed in the final matches against teams from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, clinching the final match against the UAE 3-0. Nine players from various Gulf countries participated, representing nine clubs and national teams.

With this victory, the Bahrain Esports Team secures its place in the Esports World Cup, set to be held in Riyadh, with a total prize pool exceeding 60 million US dollars.
