Kenyan-born Bahraini athlete Winfred Yavi is gearing up for a strong performance at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris on July 7.

The reigning world 3000m Steeplechase champion aims to rebound after a challenging start to the season. Yavi began her season at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, where she finished ninth with a time of 9:21.62.

The race was dominated by Uganda’s Peruth Chemutai, who clocked a personal best of 8:55.09.

World 3000m steeplechase silver medallist Beatrice Chepkoech and Faith Cherotich completed the podium with times of 8:56.51 and 9:04.45, respectively. Despite not securing a victory this season, Yavi remains undeterred.

She competed in two events, including the Meeting International d’Athlétisme de la Province de Liège in Belgium, where she finished second in the 5000m with a time of 14:41.99.

Last season, Yavi had an outstanding performance, winning the world title and the Diamond League Meeting final at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene. Now, she is focused on reclaiming her winning form in Paris.

In Paris, Yavi will face fierce competition, including world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, who has shown impressive form this season.

Chepkoech started her season with a win at the African Games and continued her success at the Diamond League Meetings in Xiamen and Suzhou.

She finished second at both the Prefontaine Classic and the National Trials for the XXXIII Olympic Games and claimed a bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships.
