Excitement builds as Bahrain hosts Asian U18 Volleyball Tournament

Bahrain is set to host the 15th Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship on Thursday, welcoming 16 teams from across Asia.
The event will take place at the Bahrain Volleyball Association and Bahrain Table Tennis Association halls at Isa bin Rashid Sports City in Riffa.
This championship further cements Bahrain’s reputation in the volleyball world, showcasing its success in hosting tournaments.
This championship aligns with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), aiming to make Bahrain a global sports hub, with support from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
For the first time, the tournament will feature “Video Challenge” technology in Bahrain’s youth volleyball events.
A local team has been trained to operate this system, demonstrating Bahrain’s commitment to high standards in sports event hosting.
Zahra Mahfoudh Thamer has been appointed to the adjudication panel by the Asian Volleyball Confederation, marking a significant milestone for the Bahrain Volleyball Association.
The 16 participating teams are divided into four groups. Group A includes Bahrain, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Group B comprises Japan, Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan. Group C features Iran, China, Lebanon, and the Philippines, while Group D consists of India, South Korea, Kuwait, and Pakistan.
Firas Jawad Al Halwachi, Executive Committee Chairman and Championship Director, confirmed that preparations are well underway.
