Bahrain’s national volleyball team will start the Asian Volleyball Championship against Hong Kong.

The tournament will feature eight matches daily across two venues: the Volleyball Federation Hall and the Table Tennis Federation Hall, with the preliminary rounds from July 28 to July 30 and a rest day on July 31.

Matches are held in four sessions daily at 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM, 4:30 PM, and 7:00 PM. Bahrain’s preliminary round matches will take place at the Bahrain Volleyball Federation Hall.

The team will face Hong Kong on Sunday, July 28, at 7:00 PM, Thailand on Monday, and Australia on Tuesday, July 30.

The national team resumed training last Monday after securing second place in the Men’s Under-17 Arab Championship in Amman, Jordan, under national coach Fouad Abdulwahid.

Friendly matches are planned to assess player readiness and correct errors before the tournament.

The Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship was first held in Baguio, Philippines 1997, with eight teams.

The most recent edition was in Iran in 2022. This year’s tournament marks Bahrain’s second participation and first time hosting. Bahrain debuted in the 2014 Sri Lanka tournament, finishing ninth.

The executive committee, in coordination with the General Sports Authority, designated four training venues for participating teams: Al-Nasr, Al-Shabab, A’ali, and Dar Kulaib clubs.

These venues are being prepared to meet Asian Federation standards. Committee members will inspect the venues upon arrival in Bahrain.

Ali Maki AlShaikh, Chairman of the Stadiums Committee, expressed satisfaction with the team’s adherence to the work plan and schedule, ensuring all preparations for the tournament’s halls and training venues are complete.

He emphasized the committee’s readiness for the official matches to commence.
