Qatar’s Olympic-bound athlete, Ismail Dawood, delivered an impressive performance in the 400m hurdles at the London Diamond League, securing a third-place finish with a personal best of 47.72 seconds.
Dawood beat his previous personal best, coming in behind Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos, who won his fifth Diamond League meet this season, and Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke.
“That was a huge PB for me, so I am very excited now for Paris,” Dawood said, expressing confidence for the upcoming Olympics.
Dawood finished just behind Clarke, who clocked 47.63 seconds, with Kyron McMaster from the British Virgin Islands placing fourth at 47.81 seconds.
Joining Dawood in Paris will be other top Qatari athletes, including high jumper Mutaz Barshim, who is aiming to defend his Olympic title.
Barshim, however, withdrew from the London meet due to technical issues but remains focused on the Olympic Games. This new era for Qatari athletics promises excitement and high expectations for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
