Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee, expressed immense pride in the exceptional representation of Bahraini women at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
For the first time, Bahrain’s Olympic team comprises an equal number of male and female athletes, with eight out of 14 participants being women.
This landmark achievement speaks to the progress of gender equality within Bahraini sports. Shaikha Hessa attributed this success to the relentless efforts of the Olympic Committee, under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
She emphasized that these efforts have already yielded significant results, with Bahraini women securing four Olympic medals, including two golds and two silvers.
The support and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Olympic Committee and head of the delegation, were also lauded. “I am honored and proud of Team Bahrain’s athletes who have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This moment is the culmination of years of effort, training, and dedication. I am confident that you will give your best at this global sporting event,” Shaikha Hessa stated.
