In a Men’s 81 kg elimination match at the judo championship, Turkish judoka Vedat Albayrak emerged successful against Askerbii Gerbekov of Bahrain.

The contest, which took place during the Round of 32, saw Albayrak win by an ippon in the Golden Score period, concluding the bout at 4:49 with a final score of 10-0.

The match extended into the Golden Score after both competitors failed to secure a decisive point within the initial regulation time. Gerbekov, struggling with penalties, was issued three shidos—two for false attacks and one for non-combativity.

Albayrak capitalized on these opportunities, ultimately securing the win with an ippon. Gerbekov’s penalties began early, with his first shido for a false attack at 2:10 and a second at 4:49.

His third penalty, a shido for non-combativity at 1:50, further hindered his performance.

Albayrak, on the other hand, maintained a strategic approach throughout the match, leading to his wellearned victory. Askerbii Gerbekov, while eliminated, demonstrated commendable effort under challenging circumstances.
