In Heat 2 of the Men’s 5000m Round 1 at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew finished in 10th place with a time of 13:53.11.

While Balew’s result did not qualify him for the next round, his performance was a notable effort in a competitive field. Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen led the heat with a time of 13:51.59, followed closely by Ethiopia’s Biniam Mehari (13:51.82).

Belgium’s Isaac Kimeli and the United States’ Grant Fisher also secured positions within the top 5.

Notable performances included Uganda’s Oscar Chelimo and Kenya’s Ronald Kwemoi, who finished in the top 6.

Ethiopia’s Addisu Yihune also qualified for the next round. Spain’s Adel Mechaal did not start the race. Balew’s time of 13:53.11 placed him just outside the qualifying positions.

Despite not advancing, his effort contributed to Bahrain’s presence in the event and reflects his competitive capabilities.
