The 2024 Paris Olympics closed with a dazzling ceremony on August 11 at the Stade de France. Fireworks lit up the night sky, marking the end of an unforgettable event as the Olympic flame was extinguished, passing the torch to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.
Star-Studded Show
The ceremony featured a star-studded lineup, including Tom Cruise making a dramatic descent to the “Mission Impossible” theme. He took the Olympic flag from gymnast Simone Biles, mounted a motorcycle, and sped out of the stadium. Musical performances by Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg, alongside Dr. Dre, energized the crowd. French pop-rock band Phoenix also captivated the audience as athletes joined in the celebrations.
Medal Moments and Future Handover
The U.S. beat France in the women’s basketball final, closing the Games with both countries leading in gold medals. As Paris bids adieu, the focus shifts to Los Angeles, which will host the next Summer Olympics in 2028.
