Tazhudinov conquers wrestling gold

Bahraini wrestler Akhmed Tazhudinov secured a stunning victory in the men’s 97kg wrestling final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, pinning Georgian opponent Givi Matcharashvili in a dramatic first-round finish yesterday.
The 21-year-old, who has quic kly risen to the top of the wrestling world, claimed his first Olympic gold medal with the win, adding to his titles as an Asian and World champion.
From the moment the bout began, Tazhudinov’s movements were a blend of grace and power, as he maneuvered with a predatory focus. Within a mere 1:52 minutes, Tazhudinov secured his victory by fall, a commanding 5:0 win that made his statement.
His performance was marked by a flawless of display of technique. He scored 2 technical points in the first period and secured the gold medal with clear dominance. Tazhudinov e x - pressed his gratitude to those who supported his journey. “I had a year of training, and I was very focused,” he said.
“Without my coaches and everyone else supporting me, I wouldn’t be here.” After his victory, Tazhudinov dedicated his win to Bahrain, acknowledging the support he received from the kingdom.
“The support from His Highness HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the whole of Bahrain has been amazing.
This medal is for all of us,” he added. Despite his young age, Tazhudinov is already a multiple-time champion and shows no signs of slowing down. “I’m just getting started,” he said, hungry for more success on the international stage.
