In a vibrant kickoff to its first-ever women’s tennis initiative, the Bahrain Tennis Federation has unveiled a groundbreaking training programme designed to elevate the sport among women in Bahrain.

This fresh endeavor is set to engage local women, guiding them through the essentials of tennis and integrating them into the Federation’s growing sports community.

The launch event, held yesterday evening at the Federation’s picturesque courts in Isa Town, saw a remarkable turnout.

Mohamed Salman, Board Member and Director of National Teams, and Jamila Al-Nashaba, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, witnessed firsthand the enthusiasm surpassing the committee’s expectations.

The overwhelming response led to an expansion of the programme to accommodate five groups, with four specifically tailored for beginners.

A growing waiting list of eager participants, spanning various age groups and nationalities, signals a promising future for women’s tennis in Bahrain.

Al-Nashaba lauded the recent surge in interest in tennis, attributing the momentum to the supportive leadership of Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Tennis Federation.

The Federation’s commitment to local events and programme underscores its dedication to building a thriving sports culture.

Training for All Levels The new programme caters to women at all skill levels, from novices to those with prior experience. It aims not only to enhance their tennis skills but also to build a sense of community through sport.

The sessions are scheduled in the evenings twice a week, either on Sunday and Tuesday or Monday and Wednesday, to accommodate the busy schedules of women.

Training is conducted by the Federation’s seasoned coaches, renowned for their expertise and dedication.

This initiative is more than just a training programme; it’s a step towards empowering women, encouraging them to embrace a new sport and connect with others who share their passion.
