HH Shaikh Khalid directs to launch “Fereej Al Dhahab” tournament

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has directed the General Sports Authority to launch the Fereej Al Dhahab Championship, as part of his pioneering initiative for the age groups sector.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that the interest in building a strong and competitive base in all sports comes on the top of the priorities of the General Sports Authority, by continuing to launch initiatives that contribute to discovering talents and feeding national teams with the best materials that will continue to reap achievements and raise the flag of the country high in the coming years.

His Highness pointed out that the “Fereej Al-Dhahab” championship comes within the framework of the “Generation of Gold” initiative, which achieved only two years after its launch a great success reflected in the results of the teams of the age groups in a number of sports, which reached the podiums at the Gulf, regional and Arab levels, praising the efforts of sports federations and clubs that interacted positively with the initiatives of Generation Gold and contributed to recording these honorable achievements.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa indicated that the “Fereej Al Dhahab” tournament also comes in the context of the development of the Freej stadiums project, where its competitions will be held on the stadiums that were established within the framework of this pioneering and strategic project, as part of the cooperation and partnership between the General Sports Authority and supporting companies from the private sector.

The “Fereej Al-Dhahab” tournament, which will be launched during the coming period, includes football and basketball competitions in cooperation with the Bahrain Football Association and the Bahrain Basketball Association, as it will be organized in the four governorates of the Kingdom, targeting players in the age groups who are not registered in the lists of clubs and sports federations, with the aim of discovering talents in the various cities and villages of Bahrain
