Liverpool manager Arne Slot has commended Trent Alexander-Arnold's defensive abilities, stating the 25-year-old has been a solid defender "all his life." While the right-back is frequently recognized for his attacking flair, Slot highlighted that Alexander-Arnold’s defensive skills are often overlooked.
The Liverpool star, now in the final year of his contract, expressed that he finds the perception of him being a stronger attacker than a defender "harsh." Having been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold is determined to improve under Slot's guidance, who recently took over from Jurgen Klopp.
Following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, Alexander-Arnold shared his ambitions with Slot, revealing his desire to become a defender no forward wants to face in Europe. Slot has committed to being tough on Alexander-Arnold, pointing out any defensive lapses during team and individual meetings.
Slot’s comments come just before Liverpool’s League Cup third-round clash with West Ham.
