A delegation from the International School Sports Federation (ISF) recently visited the American University of Bahrain to assess the facilities for the upcoming International School Games "Bahrain 2024". This event, scheduled for October and held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, will welcome over 5,000 athletes from more than 80 countries.

A Precursor to Bahrain 2024

The ongoing Sixth School Games in Bahrain are laying the groundwork for the International School Games next month. These competitions are crucial for developing young athletes and preparing them for international challenges. Athletes are competing in 19 different sports, including basketball, handball, beach volleyball, athletics, swimming, fencing, tennis, table tennis, karate, chess, badminton, taekwondo, judo, boxing, gymnastics, cycling, cricket, padel, and sailing.

Venue Inspection

The ISF delegation, including Sports Director Saurabh Mishra and Event Director Uroš Savic, examined key facilities for aerial gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and chess. Their tour included a thorough inspection of stadiums, spectator areas, and changing rooms to ensure compliance with ISF standards.

Feedback for Improvement

The delegation was generally pleased with the facilities but provided constructive feedback for enhancements to facilitate a smooth event. With careful planning and execution, Bahrain is poised to host another world-class sporting event, setting a new standard for future school sports tournaments.

Bahrain 2024

The International School Games "Bahrain 2024" is expected to be the largest event of its kind, marking a pivotal moment in the history of school sports.
