The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has been named the official sponsor of the Under-21 Youth Football League for the 2024/2025 season.
The announcement was made during a launch ceremony attended by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), alongside BFA members, NBB officials, and key figures from Bahrain’s sports community and media.
As part of the sponsorship deal, the league has been rebranded as the NBB Football League U21, and will feature 21 participating clubs. The season will offer substantial financial rewards, with the champion team receiving $15,000, the runner-up $10,000, and individual awards of $2,000 for the best player, $1,000 each for the top scorer and best goalkeeper.
NBB will also provide match kits for all teams, with additional prizes expected to be announced soon. During the event, Hisham Abu Alfateh, NBB’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, expressed pride in sponsoring the league, noting its importance as a platform for young football talent in Bahrain.
“Our collaboration with the Bahrain Football Association underscores our commitment to nurturing the next generation of athletes and supporting Bahrain’s ambitions to compete on the global stage,” he said.
Supporting youth His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the BFA, thanked NBB for its support, emphasizing that the sponsorship strengthens the partnership between the two entities and contributes to the development of young athletes, who serve as a crucial foundation for Bahrain’s senior national teams and clubs.
He highlighted that the backing from NBB would enhance the competitive nature of the league and its organizational success. The NBB Football League U21 will officially begin on Monday, 7th October, with the opening match between Muharraq and East Riffa at Al Ahli Stadium.
Matches will be held across various locations in Bahrain, with the final scheduled for April 2025. NBB’s sponsorship reflects its broader commitment to youth development in sports and other sectors. Through this partnership with the BFA, the bank aims to help identify and nurture promising talent and contribute to the continued growth of football in Bahrain.
