The Spanish Defender Dani Carvajal suffers a serious knee injury during his team’s 2-0 victory over Villareal last night.
Carvajal twisted his right knee in a challenge with Villareal’s Yeremy Pino and was stretchered off the field.
The 32-year-old has been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, external collateral ligament, and popliteal tendon, and will undergo surgery, sidelining him for several months.
Despite the setback, Carvajal shared his thoughts on Instagram, saying, "Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed, I’ll have to undergo surgery and be off the field for a few months."
He also expressed his determination, adding, "Looking forward to starting the recovery process and coming back like an animal."
Coach Carlo Ancelotti voiced concern over the injury, which adds to the team’s recent challenges after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ abductor injury.
Additionally, the Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. sustained a neck injury in the same match, Reuters reported.
Real Madrid is currently second in the LaLiga standings, tied with Barcelona on 21 points.
