In preparation for their participation in the 9th Winter Asian Games set to take place in Harbin, China in 2025, the Bahrain Ice Hockey Team took part in a critical anti-doping awareness session. The session was organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in collaboration with the Bahrain National Anti-Doping Organization (B-NADO) on Thursday, October 18, 2024, at the Youth and Sports Hall in Seef District.

Key Figures in Attendance

The event was attended by the head of the delegation, Maryam Mardaneh, team manager Abdullah Al-Qassimi, and head coach Sameh Hegazy. These key figures ensured that the players were well-prepared not only physically but also mentally, with a clear understanding of the anti-doping regulations they must adhere to during the upcoming Winter Asian Games.

Insights on Doping and Testing Procedures

Dr. Hussain Al-Haddad and Muhammad Khalid from B-NADO delivered a detailed presentation covering the detrimental effects of doping and the importance of maintaining a clean sporting environment. The session also provided the team with crucial information on the sample collection process for Olympic and Asian Games, as well as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules, ensuring that the athletes are well-informed of international standards.

Ensuring Fair Play and Integrity

The session was part of the broader effort to uphold the integrity of Bahraini athletes in international competitions, focusing on educating them about the consequences of doping and ensuring that they compete with fairness and transparency.

As Bahrain gears up for the Winter Asian Games 2025, the efforts made by the Bahrain Olympic Committee and B-NADO underline the nation’s commitment to ethical sportsmanship and compliance with international anti-doping regulations.
