Bahrain had a breakthrough on Day 3 of the ISF Gymnasiade 2024, headlined by a golden victory in karate as Sara Hani outmaneuvered her opponents with tactical precision. Her gold medal encapsulated an evening where Bahrain shone brightly, setting the tone for a promising championship.

Alongside Hani’s feat, Mohammed Moosa, battled to claim a well-deserved silver. Bahrain’s strength in karate was further underscored by four bronze medalists—Dana Mohamed, Fawzia Alameer, Mohamed Hamed, and Mohamed Alahmed—who each brought an extra edge of skill to the tatami, reflecting Bahrain’s growing depth and dominance in the sport.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s U17 handball team put on a masterclass in cohesion and athleticism, crushing Beniene 43-14. Commanding the court from start to finish, Bahrain’s defense was impenetrable while their offense consistently broke down their Beniene’s strategies.

This latest win ensures Bahrain’s firm lead in Group A, a testament to their thorough preparation and strategic play. The 3x3 basketball competition witnessed mixed performances for Bahraini teams, with some teams managing to score remarkable victories while others faced challenges against strong international teams.

Bahrain 5 beat India 14-4 after an outstanding performance from the players who showed strong cohesion in defence and attack, helping them to dominate the match. Bahrain 6 continued their winning streak, beating Croatia 11-9 in an exciting match in which Bahrain showed their superiority at crucial moments, as the players emerged with a high fighting spirit.

In an internal clash between the Bahraini teams, Bahrain 2 was able to beat Bahrain 1 13-12, in a close match that saw strong competition from both teams, as the excitement continued until the last moments. Bahrain 2 continued their impressive form in the tournament by beating China 2 9-4, adding another victory to their tally and confirming their strong determination in the competition.

On the other hand, Bahrain 4 managed to record an important victory over Nepal 13-10, after a great performance, especially in the second half, which enabled them to decide the match in their favor.

Despite these victories, some Bahraini teams faced tough challenges: Bahrain 5 lost to Slovenia 1 10-13, Bahrain 3 suffered a 9-18 defeat to Taipei, and Bahrain 4 lost to India and Italy 3-18 in both matches.

Bahrain 1 also failed to win against China, ending the match 21-7 in favor of the Chinese team. Bahrain’s women’s team managed to achieve an important victory over Saudi Arabia 13- 7, as the players put in a great performance in the match, and succeeded in imposing their control during the two halves, which helped them to reap this important victory.

On the other hand, the Bahraini team was unlucky in the rest of the clashes, as the team lost to Thailand 14-6, in a match in which the players showed strong attempts but the Thai team succeeded in controlling the course of the match.

Bahrain also lost to Brazil 5-2 in a strong match in which the Bahraini players proved their defensive abilities, despite the final result. In another encounter, Bahrain 2 lost to China 21-0, as the Chinese team showed a clear superiority on the pitch. Bahrain 2 also faced another tough loss to North Macedonia 9-8, in a match that was close and saw a strong rivalry until the last moments.
