Bahrain Continues Medal Surge at ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024

Bahrain is shining at the International School Sports Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, hosted under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. By the conclusion of day two, the Bahraini contingent added 3 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze medals, bringing their total to an impressive 21 medals: 5 gold, 5 silver, and 11 bronze.

The Bahraini athletics team delivered standout performances, winning seven medals, including two golds. Raihana Ghorobah claimed the top spot in the girls’ 100m, while Sufin Hasmaw secured gold in the 400m, showcasing the nation’s growing prowess in sprint events.

In addition to the golds, the team earned three silver medals: Ahmed Sabri in boys' high jump, Laila Kamal in the girls' 100m, and Mohammed Al Mudhahi in para discus throw. The team’s bronze medalists included Abbas Abkar in the boys’ 100m and Alaa Sami in the 400m.

Bahrain’s female athletes also showed great promise in the 200m heats, with Ayesha Bais, Laila Kamal, Naima Naoumi, Raihana Ghorobah, and Sufin Hasmaw all securing spots in the finals, heightening expectations for further medal wins in the coming days.

Karate proved to be another strong field for Bahrain, where athletes collected eight medals (1 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze) at Isa Town’s C Hall. Sarah Hani took gold in the over 60kg category, while Muhannad Mussa secured silver in the over 70kg. Bronze medals went to Mohamed Ahmed Al Ahmed (over 75kg), Fawzia Al Amiri (over 55kg), Mohamed Hamid (under 55kg), and Dana Mohammed Fazea (under 55kg).

In team events, the boys’ 14-16 karate team consisting of Abdullah Al Murbati, Mohamed Hamid, and Ali Ismail won bronze, while the girls’ team—Fawzia Al Amiri, Dana Mohammed Fazea, and Sarah Hani—also took bronze, further contributing to Bahrain’s impressive tally.

These achievements reflect the hard work of Bahraini athletes and the country’s growing success in organizing world-class sports events. Bahrain’s stellar performances at ISF Gymnasiade 2024 highlight the nation’s emerging sports talent, reinforcing its position on the global sports stage.
