All fans attending the WEC 8 Hours of Bahrain, powered by Bapco Energies will get to enjoy a unique, day-to-night racing experience with ultra-quick, technologically superior motorsport machines lighting up BIC’s 5.412-kilometre track.

The weekend marks the WEC's 2024 finale, with plenty still to fight for amongst the series' crews in Saturday's endurance racing spectacle, which is scheduled to get underway at 2pm, with the chequered flag coming down at 10pm.

The 18-contender Hypercar field will be spearheaded by defending FIA Hypercar World Endurance Drivers Champions Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa in the #8 Toyota GR010-Hybrid of Toyota Gazoo Racing.

They were also last season’s winners in Bahrain, and will once again be facing some stiff competition from the rest of the pack, led by the Porsche Penske Motorsport #6 team of Andre Lotterer, Kevin Estre, and Laurens Vanthoor.

Sharing the duties in their Porsche 963 Hypercar, they triumphed in the WEC season’s penultimate round in Fuji, Japan in September, and in doing so took a significant step closer towards stealing away title glory from the holders.

Others looking to make their presence felt amongst the Hypercars are the #50 Ferrari AF Corse trio of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen, who are currently second in the Hypercar drivers’ championship fight, along with the other crews of Toyota Gazoo Racing, Porsche Penske Motorsport, Ferrari AF Corse.

Completing the Hypercar entries are Cadillac Racing, Hertz Team JOTA, BMW M Team WRT, Alpine Endurance Team, Lamborghini Iron Lynx, AF Corse, Peugeot TotalEnergies, and Proton Competition.

Porsche leads the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship while Hertz Team JOTA have already clinched the FIA World Cup for Hypercar Teams trophy heading into the finale.

There have been six different winning Hypercars from the seven WEC rounds leading up to Bahrain – signifying the highly competitive nature of the category.

The teams in their 18 challengers that will be battling it out are Heart of Racing Team, Vista AF Corse, United Autosports, Iron Lynx, Proton Competition, Akkodis ASP Team, TF Sport, Iron Dames, Manthey EMA, Manthey PureRxcing, D’Station Racing, and Team WRT, who will be featuring Rossi in one of their cars.

The FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Drivers and a similar trophy for LMGT3 teams will be awarded at the end of racing on Saturday.

This year’s WEC 8 Hours of Bahrain, powered by Bapco Energies will be the 13th time the WEC will be putting on a show on the island. It will also be the sixth time the event is taking place in its current eight-hour format.

It is the only eight-hour challenge on the WEC calendar, and the series’ newest champions will be officially crowned this weekend in Bahrain.
